Žan Jan Oplotnik
, Ph.D., employed as an assistant professor at the Department of Finance and International economy at Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Maribor, Slovenia, since 2003 and as Vice-President of Management Board of Motorway company in the Republic of Slovenia, in charge mainly for financial engineering. For the last 10 years, cooperates as a researcher at the Economic institute of the Law School from Ljubljana, one of the oldest economic institute in Slovenia, specialized mainly for macroeconomic analysis, econometric modeling and prognosis. In recent years has been involved in many research projects, mainly at the field of investments and financing of economic infrastructure, econometric modeling, fiscal decentralization, analyzing international macroeconomic environment and economic trends. As an assistant professor he lectures at graduate and postgraduate level, subjects as: financial markets, international finance and international trade. In the past he was also visiting lecturer on a few Mexican Universities and at the University of Podgorica, Faculty of Economics. As a foreign consultant he cooperated with USAID and OSI (Open Society Institute Budapest) and Central bank of Monte Negro at the project of Montenegro Macroeconomic model. He published more than 60 scientific articles in some leading economic journals and magazines, home and abroad. Among the most outstanding foreign publications are: Capital flows adjustment policy in Slovenia in Journal of Post-Communist Economies, London, Macroeconomic and development consequences of motorway construction in Slovenia. Est-Ovest review, Italy, Financing Local Government in Slovenia in Post-Communist Economies, London, Infrastructure development in Slovenia in: Boehm, ‘Slovenia and Austria: bilateral economic effects of Slovenian EU accession, Schriftenreihe des Institutes für Technologie- und Regionalpolitik der Joanneum Research, Graz, etc. Through listed activities, workshops, round tables and conferences, he has been cooperating with many public and private companies and institutions, like Ministry of Transport, HSE, leading Slovenian power company, National Real estate and housing fund, different local community authorities, etc. Since 2005 he is also a regular member of the Government's Strategic Council for Economic Development, established by prime minister and member of supervisory board of the Slovenian Securities Market Agency.
