Evaluation of Environmental Policy Pursued by Poland during the Transformation and Globalization of the Economy

ABSTRACT. During Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro it has been agreed that improvement in the environmental global situation requires, among other things, implementing the concept of sustainable development worldwide, including Poland. This in turn requires pursuing deliberate environmental protection policy. In Poland, both the implementation of sustainable development concept and environmental policy should be related to economic transformation, EU membership and globalization process. EU documents and international conventions ratified by Poland in the scope of environmental protection are guidelines for formulating Polish environmental policy. Necessity to adjust entails continuous evolution of this policy, which results in, among other things, the evaluation of its effectiveness. Therefore, the main aim of the present article is to prove that Polish environmental policy is effective.
