The Path of Sectoral Changes in Large Developed European Countries: The Polish Perspective
Małgorzata Kokocińska
ABSTRACT. The paper purpose is to show the path of structural, in the meaning sectoral changes, in the large European economies in the long-run and the evidence compared with a path of such processes in Poland. In this paper, the emphasis was made on productivity side of economy, especially in six sectors: agriculture, mining, WEG, construction, industry and market services. The evidence was presented in tables, figures and graphs. The research period is longer to explain the changes in developed countries (1970 – 2008) and shorter in case of Poland (1995 – 2008). The sources of data are obtained from EU KLEMS database, the University of Groningen. The results indicate that we can observe the model of large developed economy and identify countries where path will be similar in the future to the board of optimal structure. Supporting activity going to sectoral changes means supporting one of economic growth factors. The second group of factors are human capital and new technologies.
