Buyer Power: Its Economic Concept and Competition

ABSTRACT. This article provides an analysis of the buyer power. The last twenty years have seen momentous changes in retail distribution including significant increases in concentration and increased reliance, especially in the grocery sector. Increasing retailers’ market concentration and impact on distributors and undertakings will be discussed and evaluated. Possible legal remedies for problems linked to buyer power also given as well as recommendations for the increasing effective competition.
