Disclosing HRM-Performance Linkage: Current Research Status and Future Directions

ABSTRACT. This paper analyzes the linkage between human resource management and organisational performance. First, to disclose and substantiate the HRM-performance linkage, this paper provides a thorough analysis of the existing theoretical HRM-performance models and findings of prior research on the linkage. The paper looks into the input and output sides of the linkage, its mechanisms and logics, and the role of the external context. Then the paper identifies existing gaps in current HRM-performance linkage research and concludes with directions for future research.
