Households’ Consumption on the Background of Socio-Economic Transformation in Rural Areas in Poland, 1993-2009

ABSTRACT. In this article, the results of the research of the rural households in Poland, 1993-2009, are presented. The paper’s purpose was to identify the most important trends and changes in the level and diversification of the rural households’ consumption in our country on the background of selected socio-economic determinants.
The socio-economic characteristics of the rural households were analyzed, in particular their income, that were found to be determinants of realized consumption patterns of households and life of this population.
The empirical analysis was based primarily on information coming from the households’ budgets panel studies conducted by the Polish Central Statistical Office, 1993-2009.
