Initial Situation of the Member States in the Context of Objectives of Europe 2020 Strategy

ABSTRACT. EUROPE 2020 or EU 2020 is a strategy adopted by the European Union for smart and sustainable growth as well as integration. In order to prevent pessimistic scenarios that could lead to the marginalization of its role in the world, the EU has set 5 targets to be met in the scope of employment, innovation, education, social inclusion and environmental protection. All the aforementioned goals are to help increase employment, enhance productivity and social cohesion as well as stimulate economic growth, which in turn is to enable the EU economy to become smart, sustainable and inclusive.
The aim of the paper is to present initial situation encountered by particular Member States in the scope of employment, innovation, education, social inclusion and environmental protection in the context of objectives formulated within the framework of EU 2020 Strategy.
