The Overview of Some Basic Issues in Insurance Market – The Case of Serbian Insurance Risk Transfer Market

ABSTRACT. This paper analysis the emerging role of capital markets’ instruments in insurance risk management in general as well as the possibilities of their application in Serbian insurance market. The analysis of capital markets solutions in the global insurance industry is provided as the basis for the examination of challenges and opportunities of the utilization of the experience of developed insurance markets, in the developing country such as Serbia. The findings suggest that alternative risk transfer solutions have the potential to play an important role as a complementary solution to traditional reinsurance in future insurance risks’ management in the global as well as, although in the long run, in Serbian insurance market.
