Borisas Melnikas
ABSTRACT.Cohesion-based transformations in the Baltic region and the European Union in general, as well as controversial changes and the processes of formation of unified social, economic and technological space in the Baltic region are described and analyzed. The processes of cohesion-based transformations are seen as an important factor for further social, economic and technological modernization in the Baltic countries, as a precondition for more intensive and active integration of Baltic social and economic systems into European and global economic and technological structures.
The main attributes and principles of cohesion in the context of general societal transformations are discussed. Controversial changes and development tendencies in the Baltic region are described. The arguments determining the idea of the Baltic region community and unity, as well as opposing arguments are evaluated. The cohesion processes, as well as the processes of formation of the unified social, economic and technological space in the Baltic region as a research area is described.
