Dovile Valanciene, Tomas Saulius, Daiva Majauskiene, Albertas Skurvydas

ABSTRACT. Nowadays, the world is in a time of change where values, attitudes and scientific paradigms are changing. Today, there is an increasing discussion of the effect of a new type of science that is postmodern with complex dynamic systems in all the sciences. In this changing stage of thinking paradigms, it is useful to examine the extent of economics articles by examining the frequency of the selected concepts (representing the new science) that are used in the most representative selected scientific database (the authors chose a representative database of research articles, i.e., Thomson Reuters (ISI) Web of Science). The aim of research is, after the conceptual overview of what are the main features of new science, what is the changing paradigm, and what are one of the key concepts in representing it, to explore how much (quantitative aspect) concepts are used in the economics articles (comparison with science in general articles) and to present paradigmatic changes reflections and plausible insights/perspectives of the future development of economics. Research methods are systematic and logical analysis of changes in science and main features of new science as well as empirical analysis of the quantity of the documents. The main conclusion is that, according to the analysis, from the total research articles (306,768) in Thomson Reuters (ISI) Web of Science (1990-2015 ) database in science in general, which used the concepts representing the new science, 3.49% were research articles (10,734) in economics. At the moment, economics is in changing stage, and the authors believe that in the near future it will be more open, integrated and solving all difficult problems. These problems ' solutions are very important in order to live in a better world for everyone .
