IS DIALOGUE BETWEEN THE NEUROSCIENCE AND SOCIAL SCIENCES INEVITABLE: REFLECTIONS ON THE SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES
Dovile Valanciene
ABSTRACT. Nowadays, there is an increasing discussion of the effect of a new type of science, the one that is postmodern with complex dynamic systems, in all the sciences. The new science encourages scientific disciplines to seek dialogue, connections and integration with each other. Therefore, it is very important to be open, connected and integrated. It is believed that interdisciplinary becomes more and more important concept in science. Scientists should change, and they are changing. The changing processes are not fast and usually contain mistakes. Thus, it should be remembered to be critical and learn from mistakes. The question arises whether there is an integrated science, and in fact, there is. For example, neuroscience has become interdisciplinary with many connections to other sciences. These new associations cause great debate not only in the research domain of science technology, but as well in social science, arts and humanities research. In this paper, the author wishes to review the dialogue of social sciences with neuroscience. Social sciences are encouraged both internally and externally to be open to other sciences. Examples of this are neuroeconomics, neurolaw, neuropsychology, neuromanagement and neuroeducation. Specialists in economics, law, psychology, management and education science talk to those from neurosciencein search for clearer understanding and closeness to the truth than they had before by using the achievements of neuroscience. Thus, the question is raised whether the dialogue between neuroscience and social sciences is inevitable.
