DOES CHINA POSE A THREAT TO GLOBAL SECURITY?
Przemyslaw Skulski

ABSTRACT. The analysis of the PRC's security policy is a challenge and requires an understanding of Chinese specificity. It is connected with many reasons: reference to traditional doctrines in philosophy and a broad understanding of security. The aim of the article is to show the specificity of the security policy implemented by Xi Jinpeng's cabinet, but most of all, its duality - emphasizing the predictability of Beijing's activities, while increasing the military and economic presence in the disputed areas. Attention was drawn to the fact that this was accompanied by the modernization of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the development of the armaments industry and the systematic increase in arms exports. In this situation, it is understandable that not only the neighbours of the PRC, but also other powers, above all the USA, are concerned. The Americans' fears that Beijing will seek to limit their role in the Asia-Pacific region seem to be justified. Despite this, it is difficult to recognize China as a threat to regional or global security.
