Lijun Jia, Tianyi Jin, Xiaosong Zheng
ABSTRACT. In this paper, we study the position in GVC of China, Russia and the European Union from 1995 to 2011 using the value-added trade data obtained by the TiVA database. Unlike previous works, we focus on the three biggest economies along the Silk Road Economic Belt to determine reliance and the real GVC position. The results reveal that the participation rate of the Chinese manufacturing industry in the global value chain among the region is getting higher than before and its position in the global value chain has already moved up among China, Russia and the European Union. However, except for the labor-intensive industry, the position in the GVC division of most of the manufacturing industries is still in a low position .
