PERCEPTION OF WORKER QUALITY IN TOURISM IN SELECTED COUNTRIES OF THE FORMER YUGOSLAVIA
Misko Radjenovic
ABSTRACT. This article examines and analyses the perception of 450 respondents (specialized in tourism and hotel management) about the level of quality of tourism workers in the selected countries of the former Yugoslavia: Montenegro, Croatia, and Slovenia, which differs by the degree of influence on the following four factors: educational structure of employees, their level of motivation, level of satisfaction at work, and training opportunities. It is assumed that these factors in a certain degree directly and dominantly impacted the quality of tourism workers in the observed countries and consequently reproduced unsatisfactory rates of competitiveness and economic growth. It has been shown that the initial hypothesis has been fully verified using a linear and multiple regression analysis. In addition, it has been shown that linear dependence explains well the functional dependencies studied, and that the authors correctly identified key independent variables (factors), which significantly impacted the dependent variable (worker quality in tourism) .
KEYWORDS: tourism, workers quality in tourism, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia.
