The Development of Market Competition after the Example of Insurance Market in Poland

ABSTRACT. The paper discusses issues concerning changes in competition, which have been taking place in Poland’s insurance market. The article attempts to define factors, which affect the changes on the market discussed, and to draw conclusions as to the future of insurance market in Poland. The main objectives of the paper were:
- to perform the analysis of market competition after the system transformation;
- to define and analyse the determinants of future changes;
- to point out directions for insurance market development in Poland.
There are three groups of findings presented in the paper. The first group concerns the globalisation processes taking place in the world, which are also clearly visible on the insurance market in Poland.
The second one constitutes the arguments of joining the European Union, which had a huge influence on the Polish market, insurance market including. The last one is connected with new strategies of Polish insurance companies in services quality.
